October 2018

Good morning and welcome to another installment of the David S McKee Fine Art Newsletter.

The Fall weather is so lovely here in Albuquerque, and I am really enjoying these cool, crisp mornings and pleasant afternoons. I hope you also love this beautiful fall weather wherever you may be! This weather reminds me of the time when my family and I lived in upstate New York, minus the snow!

I would like to follow up on the last newsletter and say that the event in Taos at David Anthony Fine Art, on October 6 went really quite well. I loved discussing my work with collectors who came to the gallery that evening and was thrilled to conduct a painting demonstration, it was the highlight of my October!

October was very good to me, and I’m so grateful for the opportunities. I’m pleased to say that I sold a few paintings from my studio and also picked up a critical commission piece. Some clients have chosen to have their pets immortalized with a portrait, and I can’t think of a better gift to give a spouse or loved one. After all, Christmas is right around the corner. If you think you might be interested in this course of action, send me an email. We can arrange a time to talk on the phone, and I would love to walk you through this process and explain the details. I’m sure that we could reach an equitable arrangement.

In this newsletter, I am going to list one of my many influences, and I plan on doing so periodically. An epic creator whose career spanned multiple decades and influenced modern and contemporary music. The brilliant Jazz musician Miles Davis.  I admire Miles Davis because he pushed himself and his music into new territory. With the playing style of cool detachment and the sound of his muted trumpet, he had a unique sense of space and time. I believe my world has been enriched for allowing the music of Miles Davis into my life. If you’re unfamiliar with Miles Davis, do yourself a favor and give him listen, if you are familiar with his work then send me an email and let me know one of your favorite pieces. One of my favorite works is titled: All Blues from the album Kind of Blue. Well, too many for me to list here really!

To finish out this season, I will be in two shows in November and two in December. On Friday, November 2nd is my solo show at Zendo, the opening reception is from 6p-8p. Zendo is located at 413 2nd St, SW, in downtown Albuquerque. On Saturday, November 17, I am in a show titled Puentes de Compasion: Reaching For Hope which will be held at the Santa Maria de la Vid Abbey, Norbertine Center, and is located at 5825 Coors Blvd. SW, Albuquerque. The opening reception is November 17, from 1p-4p. On December 8th, I am participating in a Benefit for Substance Abuse Rehab at the Endorphin Power Company located at 208 1st Street, NW, in Albuquerque. That fundraiser benefit will be from 6p-9p. Lastly, on Friday, December 14, I will be showing with Cristopher Spatz and Jona Jackson Batt at the OT Circus Gallery, the opening reception will be from 5p-9p, it is located at 709 Central Ave, NW, Albuquerque.
